Why do yoga for children with Autism?
The main characteristic of Autism is that it affects three major areas in relation to speech and language. This triad is the impairment of the child’s: social interaction, communication and imaginative play. All classes provide lots of opportunities for communication and imagination as we go on yoga adventures co-created by your child within the context of yoga exercises which target gross and fine motor skills, as well as breathing and self-regulation skills.
Autism may present a variety of challenges, but the intensity of these issues could be decreased if given the correct treatment. YogaSprouts aims to address each of these areas during yoga classes in a creative way that is unique to your child’s individual needs and interests.
